Founders' Conflicts of Interest Statements
Dr. Sotirios Keros
Sotirios owns a business related to financial planning, investment management, and tax preparation from which he derives 2% of his household income. His firm works only on an hourly or fixed-fee basis, and does not sell any products, make commissions, or accept referral fees of any kind, and otherwise does not profit from any specific recommendations or suggestions made on this site.
Although Dr. Keros does not anticipate expanding his financial planning business, his affiliation with Doctored Money may increase exposure to him and his firm. The potential of personal gain from increased traffic to this site is independent of any altruistic desire he may have to educate people on financial topics.
Additionally, one of Sotirios' personal and professional goals is to encourage the development of an embedded financial education curriculum within medical training (yes, he knows you are likely picturing flying pigs right now). His involvement with DOCTORED MONEY™ and exposure through this site may help him obtain research funding, employment opportunities or otherwise advance his career in this area.
Sotirios also knows that disclosing conflicts of interest enhances trust and thus his choice to disclose these conflicts is itself biased by conflicts.
Dr. Dalton Haslam
Dalton does not receive any direct financial benefit from his role in this site, but it looks very good on his resume and he may indirectly profit from better training and employment opportunities because of this fact going forward.
One of Dalton's goals is to encourage the development of financial literacy education embedded within medical training. His involvement with DOCTORED MONEY™ may help him obtain research funding, employment opportunities or otherwise advance his career in this area.
The potential of personal gain from increased traffic to this site is independent of any altruistic desire he may have to educate people on financial topics.
